Who Are Mina and Olya?
Mina Yazdi and Olya Dzilikhova, first met as colleagues in 2008 at a leading financial and communications consulting firm in San Francisco. After swiftly becoming close friends, they made a commitment to pursue their passion for fashion and sustainability.
They came together with the shared vision of producing an upscale line that fills the gap between high fashion and sustainability, more specifically a line that showcases high-end apparel made in California and from the highest quality sustainable and organic fabrics available.
At the same time, they wanted their backgrounds and eye for classic but edgy looks to show through their creations. Three years later, they launched mina + olya, Inc. (mina + olya) in 2011 with their Fall 2012 collection. Debuting their first ready-to-wear collection, inspired by their Iranian and Russian heritage, featuring suits, coats, dresses, gowns, blouses, skirts, and pants made from sustainable and/or organic fabrics made in California.
The fabrics highlighted in their Fall ’12 collection included organic boiled wool, hemp/denim, organic wool, hemp/silk, eco-leather and sustainable interlock. Their goal is to create quality, yet sustainable products that can be enjoyed for years rather than seasons. View their Fall 2012 collection here.
In September 2012, Mina + Olya launched their Spring 2013 collection. Their second collection followed a similar theme as their premier collection with an emphasis on fabrics such as sustainable cotton/denim, organic cotton, sustainable wool, and hemp/silk. View their Spring 2013 collection here.
