The Company
History
After eight years of design, marketing and consulting work for green businesses, Joey Shepp founded Earthsite with the vision of creating a global network of sustainability websites. He focused on transforming traditional websites into "Earth-sites" - harnessing new web technology that empowers clients with simple administration tools, engaging user features, and wind-powered hosting services.

In 2003 Joey decided to pursue a Green MBA which is now a program at Dominican University of CA to expand his network in the green community, and to work on building a business plan for the long term growth of the company. He soon pulled together a team of inspired leaders committed to expanding Earthsite into a full-service consulting firm for businesses who are green or "going green": fellow Green MBA graduates Anne Buffington and Stacie Wickham, and Earthsite Los Angeles team members Averan Gale and Melissa Mansfield. This core group manages a talented pool of designers and developers with diverse expertise in technology, marketing and business planning.

Earthsite Headquarters
headquarterscrop.jpgEarthsite recently opened its headquarters in Fairfax, CA, just 45 minutes from San Francisco. Why Fairfax? Fairfax is located in the heart of Marin County just over the Golden Gate Bridge, an area that caters to the outdoor enthusiast who likes to hike, bike and enjoy nature.

The location is a perfect spot for the Earthsite team, who balance their with activities that feed their love for the natural world. Fairfax's commitment to sustainability underscores Earthsite's mission and offers opportunities for more service to the green community.

Commitment to Sustainability
Commuting
The location of the Earthsite headquarters allows our team to commute each day to work either by walking or biking. And when we aren't in the office we telecommute. When we travel long distances we drive hybrids, carpool or take public transportation. This year we plan to offset our plane travel with carbon offsets.

Office
At our headquarters in Fairfax, we do everything we can to reduce our ecological footprint. All cardboard boxes from our purchases and food scraps from our kitchen are sent back to Joey and Stacie's garden. We are working on becoming a paperless office by sharing documents electronically and when we do print, we reuse scrap paper or print double sided. We purchase state of the art new technology and to reduce our e-waste contribution we always find a second home for electronics to keep them from ending up in the landfill. And to top it off we have calculated our energy use and offset our usage by buying carbon offsets. And we recycle, of course:)

We just received out Bay Area Green Business Certification and we are members of Co-op America.

Growing the Green Network
We're proud to be fulfilling Joey's original vision of creating a global network of sustainability websites. Our client portfolio demonstrates the powerful network we have already created - one in which values-based businesses can connect, inspire and grow. The more "Earth-sites" we create, the bigger that network becomes.

Our year-round work as Internet/media partners with the Green Festival and Urth.tv enhances the connections we offer our clients, who have access to these networks for promotion and partnership opportunities. We have also created GreenMaven.com, an online portal for green news and businesses. We look forward to working with you and growing Earthsite's network.
